A Siren's Daughter- Poem.

Who bequeathed this Siren's daughter?

She calls me forth to enter onward,

To brief away from the murky waters,

Into which I had once wandered.

In a sea of desks you stand apart.

There are angry mobs, fearful souls and silent tears.

Yet even after all these years,

You remain the single angel in the dark.

I cried out to you in silence, while you walked by,

Into the rain from which you came.

There is nothing found that can bare me to you.

No vessel left to see this through.

No ship that could sail as far as you’ve gone.

No boat that can carry me to where you belong.

For the mountains they call you, as does the sea breeze.

You answer to them, not to me.

And I belong in the violence that you cannot breathe.

And that day I watched you walk away,

To all that you were meant to be,

I remember why I sought you, and I remember what you taught me.

That to be free I have to be empty of all my miseries and hindering energies.

You were my anchor and my reason,

Though you drifted with the season.

And I’m sure we’ll meet again,

My dear old friend.

(Interpret this however you may. Personally, I wrote it from the perspective of a young boy and the art in which he sees this girl who he has to say goodbye to.

I imagine they were great friends.)
